Satin · paint protection film

Umbra

Satin film for two buyers: the one who wants gloss paint turned satin, and the one whose factory matte paint cannot be colour-matched or polished.

What it is for

Why Umbra.

Satin is a finish you choose, and on some cars it is a finish you already have. This film turns gloss paint satin without a repaint, and it protects factory matte paint, which cannot be polished when it is marked. Take it off and the gloss underneath comes back.

Umbra · Satin

Gloss, then satin.

Gloss throws the light back as a sharp line. Satin spreads it into a soft sheen that hides light marring, and shows hard-water spots sooner. Switch between the two.

Data sheet

What we can put on the label.

Ticked rows are verified: printed on the roll label or confirmed by ARK. A bracketed row is waiting for a measurement or the construction sheet, and it stays a bracket until one exists.

Umbra is a working name. It is set plainly, with no trademark symbol, until the trademark screen reports.

What a claim covers: replacement film, and the labour to take off the failed film and fit the new one.Registered online, claimed through the shop that installed it.

Limits

What it does, and what it doesn’t.

It does

  • Turns gloss paint satin without repainting, and back again when it is removed.
  • Protects factory matte paint, which cannot be polished.
  • Hides light marring better than a mirror-gloss surface.

It doesn’t

  • Get polished. A satin surface cannot be polished, so a mark that does not close stays.
  • Shrug off hard water. Spotting shows on satin and needs prompt washing.
  • Stop hail.

Questions

Asked about Umbra.

Yes, and that is one of the two reasons to choose it. Factory matte paint cannot be polished when it is scratched, so a satin film takes the damage instead.

Use a matte-safe soap with no wax or gloss enhancer in it. Those additives fill the surface texture and make the finish patchy. Otherwise the routine is the same.
